Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer is a disease which happens when abnormal cells in the epidermis grow out of control, caused by unrepaired DNA damage that triggers mutations. These mutations lead the skin cells to multiply rapidly and form malignant tumors. Skin Cancer is one of the only cancers where the number of cases is increasing every year, instead of going down. Unfortunatley as the cases increase, so does the price. One report showed that treatment for skin cancer can cost as much as $56,059.

SCTS

SCTS, or skin cancer treating soap, is a compound based bar of soap charged with cancer fighting chemicals, its primary agent being imidazoquinolines. When the soap reaches the skin, it stimulates the patient's immune system slowly reviving all the damaged cells to help fight against the skin cancer. It uses a lipid-based nanoparticle formulation to keep the solution on the skin, even after the soap is washed away.

The Root of the Problem

The issue with non-melenoma skin cancers are not that they kill. Most forms of basal-cell and squamous-cell carcinomas have very high mortality rates (99% or above). The real issue is the price to get treatment. When left untreated, skin cancer can be detrimental to your body, slowly growing and killing more cells in your body. Unfortunately, the costly expense of treatment for this disease forces many to avoid treatment for the condition. In comparison to traditional forms of skin cancer treatment such as surgical excision or radiation therapy, SCTS costs as low as $8.50 for a pack, serving as a far more affordable and accessible alternative.

The Plan

The #1 goal with SCTS is to turn this passion project into a nonprofit organization, where equitable and accessible skin cancer treatment can be provided to as many people as possible. We are currently in the proccess of raising money to fund clinical trials and various forms of medical and legal certification. Please help us reach this goal by contributing through our donations section of the website :)
